‘Superstore’ renewed for season 2, ‘The View’ for season 20
Here’s a pair of renewal announcements that really could not be more different from one another.
“Superstore” – We start with the America Ferrera series, which in the wake of airing its season 1 finale, is officially coming back for another go. Here is what NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke had to say in a statement:
“We’re thrilled to renew a show that’s so incredibly funny and relatable, full of great characters who are brought to life by an amazing cast and creative team … After such a successful first season, we look forward to seeing more of the wonderful America Ferrera, Ben Feldman and the rest of this hilarious cast in Season 2.”
Personally, we’re just thrilled to see a network comedy get a second season these days in an era where it’s not really happening much. Also, massive kudos to “Superstore” in particular for managing to overcome so much, including many schedule changes and also not having really a lead-in at all through most of its run in 2016. We’ll see what happens now moving forward.
“The View” – Meanwhile, the ABC daytime series has been officially renewed for what will be its landmark 20th season. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Paula Faris, Candace Cameron Bure, Michelle Collins and Raven-Symone are all set for the time being to return, which is pretty amazing given that the show has done a pretty terrible job over the years of keeping panelists for more than a year or two. It’s nowhere near the institution that it once was, but the hot topics just keep chugging along…
