‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Ben Higgins previews shocking hometown dates

Hometown dates have become quite a tradition on “The Bachelor,” and there tends to be for the most part a few separate things that happen. The majority of the dates at least go reasonably smoothly, but one because such a mess that it ends up costing a woman in the long run. Probably the most memorable one of these over the years was that of Desiree Hartsock, whose brother notoriously slammed Sean Lowe and she was eliminated not too long after that. (Given that both Sean and Des are now married, we don’t exactly envision this as too big of a deal now.)

Could something on Ben Higgins’ show end up having a date that is (somehow) even more dramatic than this? It’s certainly possible, judging from what the man himself wrote in previewing what is next in his new People Magazine blog:

“[As] difficult as [sending Becca Tilley home] was, even that didn’t prepare me for the goodbye I had to say next week after hometowns. There is no doubt in my mind that that is the hardest goodbye I said this entire time aside from the last one. But even before we get there, you are about to see a hometown week unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. And I can promise you I was far from ready for what was about to happen. There were definitely times where it was just as I hoped, and meeting these women’s family was far beyond my expectations … but what happens on one hometown in particular changed everything.”

Based on the preview that aired after last night’s new episode, we’d say that there are several candidates for potential hometown-date drama. We saw JoJo Fletcher’s brother seemingly come at Ben aggressively for dating other women, while it seems like Caila Quinn’s father is extremely protective of her. We also wonder if Ben really is ready to become a father to Amanda Stanton’s children, since the preview really painted some of his time with them as extremely awkward.
