‘Master of None’ season 2 renewal confirmed by Aziz Ansari
All lovers of “Master of None,” rejoice: The comedy is now officially going to have a second batch of episodes on Netflix in 2017.
This news was just confirmed in a post on Twitter by none other than series star Aziz Ansari, who thanked everyone for helping to make this wonderfully-written comedy one of the best things that we’ve had a chance to see over the past few months. It was somewhat of a surprising wait to even get to this point, given the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the first season and also the perception of its success. It felt like this was something that Netflix was going to try to lock up almost right away.
We feel like the main reason for the wait until 2017 for more of the show is tied to giving Ansari and his team all the time they need to come up with some other great stories to tell. That is something that has made the Netflix model stand out so much over other networks; there’s no pressure to come back every year, and there is also time to do other things. Aziz is a traveling comedian, and of course will want to continue to do some of his gigs while he also prepares for more of the show in the future.
As for what sort of topics we are going to see “Master of None” cover the course of the next several episodes, that’s still anyone’s guess … but we imagine that they will include front and center more of the struggles of being a working actor in New York City. Sure, there are times when you’re riding high, but there’s also a little bit of a struggle and outside forces weighing down upn you constantly.
