‘Criminal Minds’ season 11, episode 12 video: Dropping the guillotine

Criminal Minds

Let’s start this particular “Criminal Minds” article with a simple admission: It was a lot easier to preview last week’s “Entropy” than it is Wednesday night’s “Drive” just on the basis of content alone. Last week the show had almost a bottle-episode feel and a high-profile guest star in Aubrey Plaza; also, it was the first episode of Matthew Gray Gubler following a brief hiatus from the show.

Reid fans, have no fear: Spencer will be around once more in “Drive,” though the case seems to be more of the standard variety … if you can interpret anything with this show as standard. He and Morgan get the latest update from Garcia in the new sneak peek, showing us what seems to be a manifest of dangerous items that could be possible UnSub murder weapons. In the end, a conclusion is reached: This UnSub may be looking to make a little bit more of a spectacle than using a mere katana; are they out to create more of a guillotine? Typically the only time we think of dropping the guillotine is when a show gets canceled. Maybe we just don’t like to think of bloody things.

Anyway, expect this episode to be more of the typical “Criminal Minds” mold, at least if the show is not hiding something big that they haven’t shared in any of the promotional materials. We’ll be thrilled in the end just if we get an unexpected twist or two. It’s hard to be necessarily surprising when you have aired on TV for over ten seasons.
