‘The X Factor’ UK: Is Louis Walsh really on the cusp of returning?
With that, let’s pose the question: Is there really a chance that Louis Walsh is going to come back to the series in the near future? We think that this is a mostly a case of the grass being greener on the other side of the fence. It really wasn’t that long ago when everyone was being negative about Walsh and what felt like canned lines during the live show (“you’re a ready-made pop star” and so on). The moment that he was gone, everyone suddenly wanted him back. We don’t think the show lost viewers because Louis was gone; instead, it was more because the show is overblown, lacks fun, and features people who are perhaps a little too full of themselves.
Now that we’ve said all of this, Walsh’s recent comments per the Daily Star are being taken as a sign that there could still be an “X Factor” future for him. This is what he had to say about almost doing ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity…,” and how Simon Cowell may have talked him out of it:
“I met them and I nearly was going to do it … But Simon said he might have something else coming up for me.”
We’ve said this before and we stand by it: We continue to feel that the biggest problem with the series at this point is that they need to remove Cowell from the equation. We don’t think that the series will have the tone it needs for the modern era otherwise.
