‘The X Factor’ UK: Does Josh Daniel have a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation?
We said pretty much throughout the entirety of “The X Factor” live shows that one of the worst decisions made was not including Josh Daniel in the lineup for the live shows. His cover of “Jealous” was the best performance arguably of the entire first half of the series, and he would have brought in so many votes. While we cannot sit here and say with 100% certainty he would have won, we do think he would have lasted longer than two of Nick Grimshaw’s contestants in Mason Noise and Seann Miley Moore.
Based on some reports that are out there via The Sun, it seems as though Daniel’s not hurting by missing out on the rest of the competition. The site reports that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has picked up Josh, and will be working with him on recording a debut album both in America as well as in the United Kingdom. Josh has seemingly confirmed the news by discussing it on social media.
Ultimately, we do think that the show will feel a little bit embarrassed if Daniel finds huge success after they turned him away, but it wouldn’t be the first time that Simon Cowell has seen this happen over the course of his career as a judge. Tori Kelly is now a big pop star after being sent home before the top 12 on “American Idol,” and even his “Britain’s Got Talent” previously turned away both Louisa Johnson and Reggie ‘n Bollie before they found their way in this competition.
What we’re trying to say here is that the show shouldn’t sweat this too much. We’re just going to be happy for Josh if it works out. You can hear his latest cover of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” below.
