‘Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance’: Where the season, winner Jeremy Collins stand in our rankings
It has become a season-by-season tradition at CarterMatt to update our season and winner rankings for “Survivor” following the end of each new iteration, and while typically our primary goal is to include the new information, we occasionally do make a few changes.
This time, the most notable switches to the rankings (which you can see here) are moving down Jenna Morasca several spots as a winner (we hadn’t looked back on “The Amazon” in some time and were overlooking some glaring flaws) along with bumping down “Worlds Apart” a couple of places (too negative at the end to be enjoyed). As for where “Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance” and its winner Jeremy Collins stand right now, let’s dive into it!
First, congrats to Jeremy for being our new #7 winner on our list! We had to spend some time thinking here about people he was better and/or worse than based on what we’ve seen objectively. While he did not control every vote and at times needed some input from other players to know what was happening, he did such an outstanding job in the social game that there were people willing to offer him up almost anything he wanted. Everyone knew Jeremy was a threat, and yet nobody targeted him for most of the game. Nobody even knew he had the immunity idols, so they cannot use that as an excuse. We think he’s slightly better than Todd Herzog, but slightly behind Tom Westman, a player who we think is rather similar (and not just because he was a firefighter when he competed).
As for the season, we feel confident in saying that “Cambodia” is the #4 season of the show ever. The only three we have higher right now are “Micronesia” (better mixture of great gameplay / hilarious blunders), “Cagayan” (really just tremendous entertainment and great casting throughout), and “Borneo” (wonderful nostalgia, show that started it all). We do think that there are some editing flaws this season and some players were not given ample time in proportion to their placement, but this season was incredibly fun throughout. Even the finale, why it may have had some predictable boots, had arguably one of the best tribal councils ever with Kimmi leaving.
