‘The X Factor’ UK: Looking at latest Louisa Johnson – Reggie ‘n Bollie rumors

There is nothing we enjoy more than playing a little bit of amateur mythbuster here when it comes to stories released by the press about “The X Factor,” and this one is all about the claims that the show may have “fixed” things for Louisa Johnson to win.

The primary evidence? Comments from Twitter suggesting that members of the audience were given torches for the “Forever Young” performances, but were told to only wave them for Louisa’s performance rather than Reggie ‘n Bollie’s. Is this curious? Sure, but there are two separate things to remember here.

1. The torches may have better suited the aesthetic of what Louisa was trying to do with her performance.

2. Louisa having torches did not equate to her getting votes. People still had to call in to support her.

There are also people crying “fix” over how quickly her official Twitter account posted an advertisement to go buy her winner’s single after the show, but the reality there is more that management probably had a mock-up version made for Reggie ‘n Bollie as well, just in case. It’s similar to how there are t-shirts made for both NFL teams in the Super Bowl as though one of them has actually won the big game in the end.

The only real evidence that we could give you to say that producers were at least favoring Louisa to win is that she got the final performance spot on the finale, which is typically the more favorable position to have since you are the last thing on voters’ minds. Even with that, people do still have to vote for you … and Louisa was clearly the better singer over the finale.
