‘Quantico’ episode 11 (winter finale) review: Who is responsible for the bombing?
The winter finale of “Quantico” promised that there would be answers when it comes to the bombing at Grand Central, and by the time we made it to a halfway point, some of these answers that you’ve been waiting for.
Let’s start here with who is, at least technically, the bomber: Elias. He did it under orders from a terrorist, not realizing that it was actually going to work the way that it did. From here, he proceeded to be ready to throw Simon completely under the bus if it meant saving his own hide. He didn’t want a second bomb to go off; he’s not a malevolent guy in that sense, but he certainly has the cowardly gene … or, we should said, he “had” it.
Over the past few years, Rick Cosnett has very quickly become the modern-day Sean Bean of TV shows. We’ve had him die on “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Flash,” and now this show all within the span.
As for whether or not the former NATs were able to stop the second bomb, bad news: Everything went to pieces, and who knows just who was inside? Is Caleb really the main antagonist, as it was hinting? We don’t know the answer to that just yet.
Some of our flashbacks this week took place right in the middle of a New Year’s party that included Eliza Coupe turning up as Ryan’s ex and telling her not to hurt him. Meanwhile, Caleb’s super-powerful mother threatened to destroy Shelby, but on the basis of hurting her son rather than sleeping with her husband. Eventually, Caleb blowing up his family’s relationship was enough for Shelby to want to end things … and we’re not shocked about that at all. Alex left with Liam, looking for something different. This episode delivered on most of what we hoped for, and thankfully, it also didn’t over-complicate matters. A nice way to end the fall run. Grade: B+.
