‘Homeland’ season 5, ‘The Affair’ season 2 finales set up by Showtime as epic event

Even though it may be a week away from both “Homeland” season 5 and “The Affair” season 2 going off the air, Showtime is doing their best to promote the heck out of them with some of the most intense, action-packed video possible. Check it out below!

These two finales on December 20 are going to be set up with marathons, and the network is going to have effectively a golden opportunity to get as many people to watch as possible. Let’s remember here that this is a particularly quiet night for television. There is no new episode of “The Good Wife” on the air, “The Walking Dead” will have been done for several weeks, and even ABC is moving on and waiting for the spring. The shows could easily get their best ratings of the season.

Granted, there’s no real cause for concern even if they prove to be a letdown, given that both shows have already been renewed for a respective sixth and third season. This means further opportunities to shine, and prove that they can continue to at least stay in the awards-show hunt.

For those of you who are “Homeland” fans, have no fear: We will be back a little bit later tonight with a full preview for the finale! Given where we are right now with Peter Quinn in that story, there is still quite a bit to discuss and many mysteries to unlock. This show could be setting up for either one of the most shocking or daring finales to date.
