‘Jessica Jones’ season 2: More talk on possibilities
The first season of “Jessica Jones” has probably now been fully digested by most of the Marvel faithful, and that of course leads to many questions. For one, will Netflix order more of this show before the upcoming team-up show in “The Defenders”? Also, should they do more? The show made the bold move to (SPOILER ALERT FROM SEASON 1) take Kilgrave out of the equation by the time you made it to the end of the finale, and that means that you have to craft a very different path for the Jessica character to travel down.
We’ve talked a little bit about showrunner Melissa Rosenberg’s desire to do another season in the past, and based on her recent comments to Variety, she’s set to go another round now:
“I’d love that. Me, personally – I’m ready to go … Marvel has a lot going on. So does Netflix. So I don’t know if a second season fits into this schedule, when, whether or not we’ll get one. I don’t know any of that. I personally, I’m ready to jump in now. I’ve had some time off. I needed some time off! It was a really hard run.”
Personally, we’re still willing to wager that there is plenty of storytelling room for a second season for a variety of reasons, beginning of course with the sole fact that it seems like “The Defenders” is still a couple of years away. “Iron Fist” is supposed to be a part of that assembly, and there has been little to nothing said about this show yet. They’ve got to still announce the cast and start filming that before they can even look towards the future. “Daredevil” is doing a second season, as well, and maybe the end of that will be the cutting-off point before the new show.
