‘Criminal Minds’ season 11: Matthew Gray Gubler on working with Aubrey Plaza, more
Matthew Gray Gubler may be a busy guy thanks to all of his work on “Criminal Minds,” but this week he became the latest actor to do an AMA on Reddit. While the majority of the questions don’t directly have to do with the CBS series, we figured that we would at least bring you some of the highlights here.
(For the record, all of the responses below are exactly as he typed them.)
On working with Aubrey Plaza again following “Life After Beth” – “it was a dream. we were born to be on screen together. like Jaffar and that parrot from Aladin… i think his name was Iago.”
On why Reid wears his watch over his shirts – “i always made sure to wear his watch outside of his sleeve as an homage to a very eccentric friend of mine who recently passed away. the reason he wore his watch outside of his sleeve was to save time when he wanted to know the time. there are a few spencer reid traits i got from him.”
On if some episodes have frightened him – “all of the episodes really frighten me. the only way i know how to play a character is to fully become that character and it sometimes has weird effects on my mind. i always try to focus on the tiny optimisms of every episode to avoid losing my mind entirely to the darkness.”
Gubler also said that his is working on a feature screenplay for a movie that he is also going to star in, just in case there are some out there who are excited to see him in even more things.
