ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: One last winter finale tease

Given that the winter finale for “Scandal” season 4 is now only a matter of hours away, there is really only so much time we have left to tease some events that are going to be coming up. Still, that’s not stopping us! There is too much to be excited about, and that includes a potential cliffhanger that could rock the very foundation of the show and be life-changing for some of the characters. Maybe we’re being a tad hyperbolic there, but this is a Shonda Rhimes series. Tell us the last time a key episode of “Scandal” did not include some sort of shocking twist in the closing minutes that made matters so much more difficult for everyone.

While Tony Goldwyn was hesitant to get into specifics on the final episode of the year in a chat with TVLine, he did offer up a small bit of information about how Fitz wanting Rowan gone, and also him wanting Olivia to live at the White House with him, could have huge consequences:

“[You] will have a deeper understanding of what the consequences of Fitz’s choice are, good or bad. Things really escalate. And a lot of the threads that have been followed these past nine episodes are all going to come to a screaming head.”

The only thing that we ask at this point is that the show does not make a further effort to split up Fitz and Olivia, if for no other reason than that we’ve already been there and done that. There’s nothing really exciting that the show can do with a split at this point.
