‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 8 review: Can Coulson really trust Rosalind?

Tuesday night’s “Agents of SHIELD” episode was bananas and then some. We didn’t know what to make of Coulson / Rosalind at the start of the episode, but now we’re kind-of rooting for them again? It’s hard to really say. After that Fitz / Simmons kiss our emotions are more or less in a tailspin.

The big thing that you need to know from all of Tuesday night’s new episode is that Rosalind is not as nefarious as some of you may have previously suspected. As it turns out, she is really just a pawn in a larger plan. Gideon Malick manipulated her into feeling the way that she did for starters about the ATCU, and she genuinely thought that they were doing good work … or at least this is the impression that we had here. Malick is without question a bad dude, and we’re starting to get a sense as to his endgame: Use himself and Ward to unleash fury courtesy of the power of the Inhumans … and it all may tie back to the world in which Simmons was stranded.

See? Everything is connected! To make matters worse, we’ve also now got Ward experimenting on Andrew as he starts to figure out how to control an Inhuman army. He wants to bring out the monster on his own accord, and it goes without saying that this is a terrifying thought.

Can we get back to the Fitz / Simmons kiss? It doesn’t cement anything just yet, but it does at least have us excited about things to come. (Yes, we’re excited about other things too, but also concerned.) Grade: B+.
