New ‘American Idol’ season 15 preview REALLY hypes up the nostalgia

The latest -Wednesday, January 6 is going to prove itself to be a rather important one in the entire history of Fox as a network. Why is that? Let’s just say that “American Idol” is finally going to start dropping the curtain on a fifteen-year run, and this promo (via Mjsbigblog) is going to give you a pretty panoramic look at the entire history.

In a way, you really should not be that surprised about the content of this in the slightest. Why? It’s roughly the same sort of thing that the Fox series has done for the past several years. They know at this point that they do not have the gimmicks of a rival show like “The Voice,” just like they also know that they don’t have any new innovations that are going to get people that excited. What they have is history. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips. What do they all have that other singing-show contestants don’t? Huge hit singles and millions in album sales.

We admit to feeling somewhat mixed when it comes to our excitement for the final season of the show. There are the occasional audition that still gets us excited and watching it again on YouTube the next day, but the entire format at this point just feels dated. We’re spending months and months to find a star now in an era where social media can make someone famous overnight.

We’ll have some other news as we near the premiere of the final season soon, so be on the lookout for it.
