‘Criminal Minds’ season 11, episode 8 review: Tara Lewis meets a very tired JJ
Last time on “Criminal Minds” we had the return of AJ Cook and with that balance was restored to the team. We had a nice celebration of her coming back to work and her sweet faced little baby which is always a nice shift from the usual heavy episodes. This week however we are going to get another nice surprise!
With JJ returning to work after having her baby and Tara Lewis being sent off to do work on a special task team we knew the door would be open for Tara to return at some point and for these two to meet – we just didn’t think that it was going to happen so soon! This week’s episode of “Criminal Minds” started off with a very tired JJ waiting for the elevator and Morgan making a few jokes about her tiredness resulting from having a little romantic night hanky panky with her man instead of staying up all night with a crying baby. We also saw Tara get off the elevator and be introduced to JJ. There was an instant connection between them and we hope that this is the beginning of Tara being around more and being part of the team with JJ.
Garcia and Hotch are trying to figure out what to do about the network of hitmen that now know Garcia was hacking into their network. With four hitmen targeting her, she’s more then a little rattled by the situation, so Hotch is doing whatever he can to make her feel safe including having an agent assigned to protect her and having her stay in a safe place that is not her apartment.
Spencer was missing from this episode and it was really weird not having him around (no matter how good Rossi and Morgan’s impressions of him are). We were happy to know that he was back with his mom, supporting her through her illness, but we do hope he returns to the team sooner rather then later. Episode grade: B-
