‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12, episode 6 preview: Meredith, Amelia clash on how to handle Penny
Does “Grey’s Anatomy” have a Penny problem at the moment? We’d say so in the context of how a few characters are struggling with her joining the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital … and it is understandable that they would.
The reality is that every doctor has at least a couple of patients who are, at least in one shape or form, their biggest mistakes. They do often have people who die who we think they could have done more to try to save. The problem for Penny is that her mistakes cost her Derek’s life, and he happens to be beloved at her new job.
The sneak peek below is a difference of philosophy in how Meredith and Amelia are trying to handle having her around. While Ellen Pompeo’s character is clearly hurting with having this one around, we feel like at the same time she knows that there is nothing hating her will do. She feels like it may be better in order to better train her, that way they can prevent something similar from happening in the future.
As for Amelia, what we are seeing from her is that she is having to resist temptation to just lash out in range. She’s being exceptionally cold to Penny, and refuses to think that having her there is right. She also thinks that Meredith is totally wrong in the way that she is handling her presence. Could Penny end up tearing these two apart? We may know more by the episode’s end.
