‘The Voice’ to give boost to ‘Superstore,’ ‘Telenovela’ comedies after run of ‘Blindspot’ episodes

NBCNBC recognizes that “The Voice” is one of the biggest launching pads that they have as a network, and as a result of that, they currently seem more than willing to use this show to boost up some other properties in addition to “Blindspot.”

Starting on Monday, November 30 and after what could be the fall finale of the Jaimie Alexander series the week before, the singing show is going to help launch new comedy (starring America Ferrera) “Superstore” with two episodes starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Meanwhile, the following week the network will do the same thing with “Telenovela,” a comedy featuring Eva Longoria. These two shows will launch properly on Monday, January 4, ensuring that this night has a comedy presence in a way that it won’t with “Supergirl” taking over the CBS comedy hour.

In a statement, NBC President Jennifer Salke had the following to say about this move:

“We’re extremely excited about ‘Superstore’ and are so fortunate to have the incredibly talented America Ferrera, who won over the hearts of viewers and critics in ‘Ugly Betty,’ coming to NBC as a producer and star. She’s joined by a terrific ensemble in a comedy set in a location everyone in the country can really relate to … We are also over the moon to have the incomparable ‘desperate housewife’ Eva Longoria producing and starring in ‘Telenovela,’ which we love. Her tour-de-force performance as Ana Sofia, the demanding but vulnerable star of a larger-than-life telenovela, is hilarious.”

The one thing that we do hope is that the network is not doing here is considering moving “Blindspot” off of Mondays. We feel like the show needs at least a full year of support after “The Voice” to have a better chance at long-term success. This is something we go into further in our ratings progress report piece.
