‘Chasing Life’ season 3: Talking renewal odds, hopes for Italia Ricci series
Tonight, “Chasing Life” season 2 is coming to a close on ABC Family, and based on where the show is right now in the story, it feels reasonably hard to imagine that this is meant to be the series finale. Think about it for a minute: April is still trying to process the death of Leo, there is something brewing between her and Dom, and her book is not anywhere close to being ready. Why in the world would the show want to end before giving her a happy ending?
Unfortunately, we’re just not sure how great the show’s chances are of coming back; in our eyes, it’s a toss-up. the numbers are down significantly both in viewers and the 18-49 demographic this season as opposed to the summer part of season 1. Granted, it is still hard to make comparisons for a few reasons:
1. Last season never aired against the fall season on network TV, so there is more competition now.
2. The show’s ratings started to drop when ABC Family scheduled some episodes in the winter / spring. Many of their shows just don’t pull the same sort of numbers at that time of the year.
If nothing else, what we’d love to see is Italia Ricci and the rest of the cast return for at least a shortened season 3 to wrap up the story. Given that “Chasing Life” is a show that likes to build off of themes of hope and perseverance, it would feel almost cruel for it to be canceled before it comes to a fitting end. Let’s hope for some sort of ending in the season 2 finale tonight that could serve as a fitting conclusion in the event that the show does end up being canceled.
