‘Galavant’ season 2 filming begins; commence your celebrations

“Galavant” fans, stand up and cheer! The series that we all love is now back in action.

The confirmation of this very thing comes courtesy of series star Timothy Omundson (a.k.a. Richard), who posted a photo of him alongside Joshua Sasse (Galavant himself) on Twitter in costume. Exciting, no? Part of the fun of this season to us could be seeing these two spend even more time working together. The events at the end of season 1 put the characters in a place where they are at least a little more on the same side than they once were, and they even have one thing in common: Being burned by the power-hungry Madalena, who has turned out to be the series’ true villain after starting the series as the woman in need of saving.

While there is not much known at present about season 2, it would be fair to assume that there will be more songs, more ridiculous settings, and also notable guest stars. John Stamos seems poised to return for at least one episode, and it was strongly hinted by Kylie Minogue that she is also going to be turning up at one point in season 2. Hopefully at some point we can get the likes of Hugh Bonneville or Ricky Gervais back in some capacity, as well.

There is no firm return date yet for season 2, but our feeling is that ABC will probably do something similar and air it in January as a way to spell “Once Upon a Time” for a few weeks. It’s a competitive spot since it will probably run against everything from awards shows to NFL games, but this also keeps ratings expectations hopefully a little lower for the network.
