‘Big Brother 17’ review: Updating tonight’s double eviction live!

JohnWe’ve presented live reviews for every “Big Brother 17” eviction show all season long, but it is fair to say that tonight’s episode is a little bit different. For the first time, after all, we are breaking down what is the all-important double-eviction episode. If you’re wondering, we’ve put Johnny Mac as the photo above in hopes that he wins Head of Household and makes a crazy move.

Before the show starts, what we know from the live feeds is that Shelli is in big trouble in terms of being the first person evicted, and that Johnny Mac could be one of the major targets for the second eviction if he does not rise to power. Of course, there’s still some flexibility since things will be happening so quickly tonight.

Post Veto – Did anyone tell Becky that jury management is a thing? Apparently not, since she definitely did not act like it after the Ceremony with Vanessa. The show may have given Vanessa more credit for campaigning than she really deserves, but at least she tried. Shelli didn’t do nearly as well, but there wasn’t much time to show a lot of it.

Eviction – Shelli was evicted unanimously, not that anyone is really that shocked by this at all. Apparently everyone must have figured it out right before eviction, since even a very grumpy Johnny Mac cast a vote to send her home. She was good in her exit interview and very articulate about her game; we’re still not sure it was smart to evict her, though.

Head of Household – The winner is … Steve! We love this, mostly because there’s a good chance now that he will save Johnny Mac, and that he will also cause some unpredictable nominations. His target really should be Becky, given that he just doesn’t like her.

Nominations – Meg and Jackie. Clearly, Steve made these moves in an attempt to try to get Becky out of the game. These two are such super-pawns that they will probably not go home unless the players are forced to pick one of them.

The Veto – What happened? Johnny Mac won the necklace, which is interesting in many ways. While he and Steve are allies, Steve is close to Vanessa’s side while John is not. If John uses it, odds are Steve would look at Vanessa unless he wants to make a big move.

Vet Ceremony – John didn’t use it, and we definitely didn’t expect to lose either Meg or Jackie tonight. We feel like Jackie is the stronger possibility, mostly because nobody believes that Meg has a real shot of winning anything.

Eviction #2 – Jackie is gone! We didn’t see that coming earlier tonight, but that leaves a pretty giant void in as far as the Goblins go. Apparently Steve was told that she wanted to backdoor him back when she had some power, but that was planted by someone and she surprisingly didn’t seem to hold it against him. Really classy exit by Jackie, and we liked her more than we expected to.

We’re pretty shocked about this episode as a whole. We didn’t expect Jackie to go home in almost any situation, and this was probably one of the few comp-winner combinations where it could happen. We think that had the Veto been used, Becky would be out in a heartbeat. This is still a decent move arguably for Steve, since we don’t think he really angered anyone too much and Meg / James both probably know there are bigger fish to fry.
