‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2, episode 5 review: Did Cat find her father?
Things are really starting to heat up on “Beauty and the Beast” this season and that’s one of the many reasons that we love this show – they aren’t afraid to take big risks and for the most part they pay off. Isn’t it more exciting when you really don’t know what’s going to happen? There are too many shows in the TV landscape right now that are playing it safe, but “Beauty and the Beast” isn’t one of them.
Anyone ready for a high school reunion? Cat sure is as she throws a pre-10 year high school reunion party at her place, but with a man like Vincent in her life, nothing ever goes as smoothly as it should. While at her party, Cat gets attacked by another beast (who also trashed Vincent’s boathouse) and her friend Beth sees the whole thing. When she later goes to the police to tell them what she saw happen to Cat, her story of an attacker with glowing eyes goes over just as well as you think it would.
When Vincent finds out that Cat was attacked, he tells her that he will make sure this never happens again, but when Vincent finds out that the other beast is a man named Zach that served with him in the army things get messy. After an apology Cat still doesn’t trust Zach, but is willing to go along with it for Vincent. So what’s the real beef between Zach and Vincent? Zach is holding a grudge over a woman Vincent took from him years back and he wants revenge by taking Cat from him. After a fight that leaves Zach dead, Vincent kisses Cat and it seems that things are back to normal for these two – at least as normal as it can be in this world.
The story of finding Cat’s biological father is still going strong and she finds out that her father has been donating money to the high school for a new swimming pool – a bit of a shock to Cat since she thinks her father is dead. She sees a picture that has a man in it that she is convinced is her father and we know that moving into next week she will be pushing the search even further. Episode grade: B
