‘Big Brother 17’ review: Knights, squires, and court jesters
It is pretty funny that our favorite part of “Big Brother 17” tonight was Johnny Mac’s line about the most-likely cause of death for a knight being tetanus. So random, but yet probably so true. This was a really fun episode for the most part, thanks largely to the medieval theme and some of the shenanigans that revolved around this.
The show did a good job of editing most of the Veto punishments, especially Shelli’s knight challenge and Vanessa serving as Jackie’s squire. The Veto was about as fun as a launching task can be. It is still not the most compelling entertainment we’ve ever seen … at least for the most part.
Strategy-wise, this was a straightforward hour since Clay and Shelli lost the Veto, and regardless of whatever they tried to do, there was no reason to change the nominations. It is just what it is there. Clay and Shelli didn’t do a terrible job tonight, but they’ve made too many mistakes over the course of the game. They tried to play both sides, and in the immortal words of Big Jeff, they got got. (Ironically, Jeff said it when he was actually tricked.)
The main thing we didn’t really care for here? The show randomly giving Meg some sort of odd homewrecker edit. Yeah, her hug with Clay was a little creepy and went on a little too long, but this was just a couple of minutes in almost fifty days of live feeds. It seems a little wrong to paint her in that light.
In the end, hopefully there’ll be another shakeup of the game on Thursday! Grade: B-.
