‘Bachelor in Paradise 2’: New twist is Ashley Iaconetti’s sister Lauren

“Bachelor in Paradise” before this season hyped up that there was going to be a huge “twist,” but having it be the presence of Ashley Iaconetti’s sister Lauren? That’s a little random…

We are still somewhat confused as to why the show hyped this up as some huge mystery. We’ve never seen Lauren on the show, and the resume here for newcomers on “Bachelor” spin-off shows is not great. Remember when “Bachelor Pad” brought in some longtime “fans” of the show? Well, they lasted all of a few short minutes, since most of them just seemed to be there either for drama or to make things awkward.

We suppose that the strategy here from a casting point of view is strictly this: Ashley was great television on Chris Soules’ season of “The Bachelor.” Therefore, the series is going to do almost everything that they can to introduce another person within this family. We’ll see how this happens, but our current projection is now great for her future.

Will this set a precedent for future seasons? For the most part, we figure that this depends on just how Lauren is perceived by everyone else in the house, and at the same time whether or not the show gets some quality cast members on its upcoming seasons. We know that the franchise would much prefer to mine their cast from there, since those are the people that are the easiest to know and to root for.
