‘The Amazing Race Canada 3’ episode 5 preview: A Double U-Turn, a Face-Off in Quebec
While we for the first part enjoy “The Amazing Race Canada” (even if we’re coming off an episode full of bad racing and horrible product placement), one of the things that we’ve wanted to see from them is take at least a few more risks and chances that the U.S. version does not take. We’ve seen some on the Australian version of the show, including the Salvage Pass, that we really like.
Next week the show is heading to Quebec (ironic, given that the show started in the province earlier this season), and while there we could see a new twist to the game in the Face-Off. While we don’t quite know the mechanism of this yet, we envision it in our head being something where two teams compete, and the losers have to sit and wait for a little while as a punishment. We like the idea since it gets people a little more competitive.
Also, this is the first leg that features a Double U-Turn this season … but for the most part we don’t see this group being that cutthroat. Really we could see Gino & Jesse being hit with it, and we could also see them using it on someone else. They are the most threatening team superficially left, and we’re a little worried about Nick & Matt getting hit with it thanks to them being at least consistent. Given the unpredictable makeup of this season where there is a level playing, we wouldn’t consider using it unless we knew the race is super-tight and you are in danger of being eliminated. You don’t want using it to come back to bite you.
If we had to rank the teams, right now we would probably have Nick & Matt #1 just because they haven’t really struggled with anything. Both teams of brothers left are pretty solid, and we’re not ruling out Neil & Kristin alongside Dujean & Leilani (if they can get along consistently) as darkhorse contenders.
