‘Mr. Robot’ episode 7 preview: How Elliot recovers from Shayla surprise
Tonight’s “Mr. Robot” episode was insane, and it has featured primarily a chain of events leading to a death we certainly did not see coming. Is Shayla really gone? This is a show that does at times play with fantasy and the element of surprise, but for the time being we’re going to assume that there is truth to what we saw and move forward to looking at how the show moves into its home stretch of season 1.
In terms of generic plot points, the synopsis makes it at least reasonably clear what you can expect to see next: “Elliott goes missing; Mr. Robot tries to pull fsociety back together; Angela goes head-to-head with an old nemesis.” That is hardly describe, but key to figuring out that for Elliot, handling the elements of guilt within him is not going to be easy. He may struggle with picking up the pieces of his life, finding a way to understand what has happened to Shayla, and then ultimately figuring out that he may have been in some ways set up to feel such a way.
Suffice it to say, we’re pretty enraged at Vera.
Seeing Mr. Robot take on such an active role in fsociety, depending of course on how these scenes are presented, could at least do something to quiet a few of the theories out there that Christian Slater is playing an imaginary man. For now, our curiosity is peaked by wondering this: Where in the world is Elliot going to run to? What does he look like even further detached from the world?

So dark but so beautiful. A masterpiece.
