‘CSI’ series finale books ‘Faking It’ star Katie Stevens
While the majority of the headlines surrounding the upcoming “CSI” TV movie (which is serving as the series finale) are all about some of the returning cast members, the news that we have today is more about who is coming on board for the first time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie Stevens of “Faking It” fame has joined the show to play the daughter of Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger). She is a woman in her early twenties named Lindsey who is a CSI Level 1 and is experiencing her first day on the job. She is following in the footsteps of Kay Panabaker, who previously played the same part for many episodes over the years. Lindsey is going to be involved somewhat in solving the case at the center of the story, and we figure what she is meant to represent here is pretty clear: Ushering in the new generation of crime-solvers.
Maybe someday someone will try to make a spin-off show about Lindsey working to solve crimes (depending on how popular her character becomes), but we just say that as fun speculation since Stevens already has a full-time job playing Karma. After a crazy-long wait, new episodes of “Faking It” are going to air starting on Monday, August 31 and if you are a fan of the show, know that we will have more coverage during the season.
Meanwhile, the “CSI” movie is going to air on September 27, and will hopefully kick off the CBS fall schedule with a bang. While the series has not been a ratings monster over the years, you have to think that there will be some attention given to this by even the most casual of fans. It’s only a two-hour commitment, after all and who doesn’t want to see how it all ends after so many seasons?
