Ratings: ‘Wayward Pines’ finale ties high while ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Astronaut Wives Club’ sink
Out of the three shows mentioned in the title, it’s kind of crazy that the one already renewed is the one getting a woeful 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
Yet, that is why “Beauty and the Beast” has to be feeling rather grateful right now that they are already so deep into production on the upcoming fourth season. This rating is pretty poor, and yet at the same exact time the show does at least have the international success to carry it for a little while longer. This show’s longevity has been somewhat of a mystery in America, but we should point out that one of the reasons for the lower numbers may be due to the fact that it airs early in Canada, and of course this is an era where there are so many other less-than-desirable ways for people to watch things.
Neither “Wayward Pines” nor “The Astronaut Wives Club” has been renewed for another season, but to be fair here, we are really not entirely sure if they should be given the limited-series format in the first place. The finale for the Fox series drew its highest demo rating yet in a 1.2, which is at least decent for the summer in the DVR era. This show is extremely time-shifted. With this being said, we are starting to think now that this should be the end after reading audience reactions to the finale and its major twist at the end. We’re not sure that it will bring similar numbers to a season 2.
Meanwhile, “The Astronaut Wives Club” sunk last night to a series low 0.6 rating, which almost guarantees that you will not see any more of it beyond this upcoming season.
