‘Wayward Pines’ finale spoilers: What comes next after Pilcher’s big move?
Is the finale of “Wayward Pines” going to be the end of David Pilcher as we know it? If anything, it is starting to look a little bit more like the upcoming episode could be very much about the character’s big downfall. We’ve already seen him shut down all of the power, and now basically everyone in the town is going to be in far more danger than ever before.
Those who know the book likely have a better idea how all of this is going to end than most; for now, all we are getting is a very cryptic tease from show executive producer Chad Hodge on how most of Picher’s actions are about to come home to roost. Just take a look at what he had to say to Entertainment Weekly:
“David Pilcher saved the last of humanity and brought them 2,000 years into the future … He gave his life for this. It was a massively costly endeavor. When you rise to those highest of heights there is often nowhere to go but down.”
While this finale takes place, we continue to hear speculation as to what the future of the show could be on Fox. The live ratings have slipped slightly the past few weeks, and while we were at one point very sure that the DVR ratings would give the network the incentive to make more of what was originally intended to be a “limited series” (it is going to have a definite conclusion), we’re not so sure now anymore. For now, the best philosophy could be to go into what is sure to be a crazy finale thinking that it could be the last episode. Maybe it will get more later, and you can then be pleasantly surprised.
