‘Big Brother 17’ review: Gronk’s party foul

cast -Tonight’s “Big Brother” episode really could have been something special … with an emphasis on the world “could” here first and foremost. There were so many problems in here that really keeps it from being everything that it could have been, with Gronk at the top of the list.

Really, Gronk’s BB Takeover wasted a good five-plus minutes of our time that could have been spent letting us see more of why Jeff was hated so much by Vanessa and therefore a perfect backdoor target. He’s angered many of the women in the house, been obnoxious, and stirred up a lot of trouble. Yet, apparently seeing a toga party was more important than most of that. We did get a little of Austin and Vanessa teaming up against him at the end, but that was it.

The show did at least present Austin throwing the Veto to Johnny Mac and some of that fallout, and we’re fine with not seeing much more of that given that it really does not have all of that big of a long-term impact in this game.

Ultimately, there wasn’t really all that much that was shown in the episode. We missed some of the great Vanessa / Steve alliance moments, seeing Austin freak out over the twins, or how everyone seemed to know that Jeff was going on the block before it happened. But, we did get a chance to see Meg win a really loserly luxury competition that seemed based entirely on who picked the right cup.

Is Jeff going home? You have to bet on it, for now. Grade: C.
