‘Fear the Walking Dead’ trailer reveals August 23 premiere date, much more

For all of those waiting and wondering what the future would hold for “Fear the Walking Dead,” we come today bearing some big news in the form of a trailer. Not only that, but also the official premiere date for the first season: Sunday, August 23. This is about what we predicted weeks ago. It will air after AMC’s current Sunday lineup comes to a close, and then it will finish its run before the start of the flagship “Walking Dead” series.

As for our take on the trailer itself, it does a lot to give us more hope about the direction of the series. We knew for a long time that we were going to be looking at a very dark version of the show, but what this really captures is the level of panic and uncertainty. Sure, there are scary moments on the flagship series, but this really does that element of “fear” in more than just the title. After all, you are looking here at a full-scale zombie invasion that nobody is ready for, and no one even knows exist. How to classify it is part of the problem.

Another reason to be intrigued by this show is the mere presence of people who are very much great. Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis are very accomplished leads, and they are two people who know better than anyone what it takes to create a strong series. Add to that the presence of Robert Kirkman, and there is reason for optimism.

Of course, we will have more news as the series progresses.
