Stephen Colbert prepares for ‘Late Show’ gig with Monroe, Michigan public access show, interviews Eminem
There are really some things that we definitely did not expect to write about on CarterMatt, and Stephen Colbert hosting a public access show in Monroe, Michigan just so happens to be one of them. In some ways it is a test run for what he is going to do on “The Late Show” as host, and it is also an introduction for those who only know him for his Comedy Central persona.
More than anything else, this video is hilarious for a pretty wide array of reasons, with the primary one being that Colbert has a great rapport with some locals to the town who were probably completely stunned by him being there in the first place. In a way, we imagine that this is why Stephen did this in the first place; he is smart enough, as is CBS, to know that this is the sort of thing that will go viral.
One of the most interesting parts of the entire video is the impromptu appearance by none other than rapper Eminem. This is a guy who is not publicity hungry, and really is not a fan of going too far away from the Detroit area. Once again, though, the location was perfect for that reason.
The new “Late Show” featuring Colbert is going to premiere on CBS come September, and given that we are still more than two months away, we imagine that there are going to be some other stories related to the show soon enough.
