‘Supergirl’ star Melissa Benoist very aware of pressure on series
There are many new series coming on in the fall that carry with them heavy expectations, but none are feeling that more right now than “Supergirl.” You’ve got a hot comic-book commodity, and it probably does not help in a way that it is coming on at a time after “The Flash,” which was widely regarded as one of the best superhero shows ever in its first season. Expectations are already higher than they were probably going to be … and they were already pretty darn high.
So how is the show trying to handle some of that? It could be pretty difficult pressure, but as star Melissa Benoist says in a new interview with IGN, they are finding a way to channel the expectations that are out there into something great:
“I think we’re just as excited to work on it and create it. There’s a lot of pressure, but the good kind to just blow everyone out of the water and inspire some people.”
The show is not premiering until we make it to the end of October, and thanks to that we have a little bit of time still to wait. We already have some things to be excited about here, but what we’re most interested in seeing is who else is going to come in and populate the world. We’ve already met some interesting characters, and we have a feeling that there will be some more on the way sooner rather than later.
