‘Bones’ season 10, episode 22 (finale) spoilers: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, and ‘The Next In The Last’
While “Bones” is not ending this season, there may be a few moments that you think that next week’s season finale “The End in the End” is actually the series finale. After all, just look at the title itself! That’s enough to make you think of at least a certain essence of finality, and to go along with, the majority of the cast is going to at least ponder a future that does not involving solving crimes through the Jeffersonian. Update: The title has actually been changed to “The Next In the Last,” but the fact that it was once named that is still interesting.
While the official synopsis was released by Fox a little over a week ago, we do feel like there is a certain measure of context that is added now that you’ve seen some of the events of tonight’s episode and also the decisions made by Hodgins and Angela. Take a look:
“When the Jeffersonian team discovers remains of a victim, and elements of the crime scene point to a possible protégé of serial killer Christopher Pelant, they must revisit their prior work on Pelant while tracing new clues that will hopefully lead them to the copycat killer. Meanwhile, Angela is skeptical about her and Hodgins decision to move to Paris and Brennan and Booth contemplate options outside of the Jeffersonian and FBI.”
The Pelant part of the story to us is clearly interesting, mostly because he remains from our vantage point the most notable and influential villain that “Bones” has presented to date over the course of the series’ run. We wouldn’t be surprised if there is either a cliffhanger or a few major developments in the finale that shift everything for season 11; as we mentioned, this was an episode that was probably written in such a way that if it was the series finale, all would be okay. Luckily, it’s not.
