‘Galavant’ season 2: Can this really be the premiere title?
Do you see the tweet HERE? We really hope that this actually remains the episode title for the “Galavant” season 2 premiere. We didn’t expect to see that much in the way of news about the comedy / personal favorite this summer, and we’re pleased just to have anything worth talking about now.
The “Cancellation Bear” that Fogelman is referring to here is a reference to the famous character over on TVbythenumbers, who does his best to accurately predict which shows are going to become #BearChow by the end of the season, which are steering clear of that for the time being. It’s a fun game to get sucked into at first, at least until you start to remember that shows have casts and crews and there’s not really any joy in seeing them get canceled. We always feel sad for a production when it ends.
Ultimately, this title (whether it stays there or not) is a nice play on the fact that the show managed to outrun the bear despite expectations by many it would be canceled. While we were certainly nervous for the show, we always had a reasonable amount of hope in a renewal for a few simple reasons:
1. This is an excellent midseason replacement for “Once Upon a Time.” You are only relying on it to fill a handful of weeks on the schedule.
2. There is absolutely nothing else like it out there, which means that the possibility of strong word-of-mouth exists.
3. The show does a great job of recruiting familiar faces as guest stars. Just ask John Stamos, Hugh Bonneville, or Ricky Gervais.
