‘Outlander’ season 2: Show boss on appeal, all the traveling

Outlander -Now that “Outlander” season 1 is over, we can finally start to move forward into what should be the bulk of the rest of the story! This is a very interesting show in that while you have some core main characters, you also have a story that is never going to be exactly the same thing for a variety of different reasons. One of the biggest ones is merely the fact that you have time travel as such a huge component of the story, and the movement of locations is also becoming increasingly a part of that.

So with the show potentially changing course over to France on the upcoming second season, is there anything in particular that presents a jolt to the production staff? Based on what executive producer Ron D. Moore is saying in an interview with Vanity Fair, it is an interesting and exciting creative challenge to create so many different places within the world of the show:

“It’s daunting, but it is exciting, because that was one of the attractions of the book series at the beginning, was [that] the books just kept moving forward. I’m sure to the uninitiated, when you watch the first episode, Claire ends up at that castle and there’s a part of you that thinks, ‘Oh, well this is now the story about a woman in that castle.’ Then we leave that castle behind, and then you just keep going. Then we’re going to leave Scotland behind.”

One of the interesting aspects of all of this as a television viewer is that for the most part, series do tend to be set almost entirely in one place and are rather sedentary. This is a tremendous opportunity to watch something evolve and change over time, and we are instantly very much interested in seeing what comes out of this.
