Critics’ Choice TV Awards 2015: Will Tom Bergeron, Anthony Bourdain, or Cat Deeley win Reality Host?
The Reality Host category for the Critics’ Choice TV Awards is to us an interesting one, mostly because we’re not just looking at competition shows here. We have three programs that are of that vein, but then three others that are more traditional unscripted fare: A hidden-camera show, a travel / food adventure show, and also a classic interview program that feels like it’s been around forever.
Below, you can take a look at some of our choices for the category; as always, you can vote for some of your individual favorites to win in the poll at the very bottom! The show will take place on Monday, May 31.
The nominees
Anthony Bourdain, “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown”
Betty White, “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers”
Cat Deeley, “So You Think You Can Dance”
James Lipton, “Inside the Actors Studio”
Phil Keoghan, “The Amazing Race”
Tom Bergeron, “Dancing with the Stars”
Who should win – Let’s start here by ruling out Betty, who in all due respect to her genius, really shouldn’t be nominated for a show that most people don’t even realize is still on the air. Bourdain would be an inspired choice given that he brings such a unique energy and style to his show, and Lipton is a nice legacy choice in that he has not been thoroughly recognized in the way he should. We’re going to say for now that Bergeron is still our pick, mostly because he is the best live host on TV, and to us it’s really not that close. He keeps the engine moving, but at the same time knows when to drop in a joke or have a more serious moment.
Who will win – It has to be Cat Deeley, right? She’s hosting this show! She would also be a worthy winner. While the past couple of season so “SYTYCD” have not been our favorite, she is someone else who we really feel dives headfirst into her craft and really seems to enjoy it. It’s not just a job to her.
