Tracy Morgan’s first interview since life-threatening car accident will take place on ‘Today’

The latest -Given that Tracy Morgan was a part of “30 Rock” and before that “Saturday Night Live,” it really should not come as too big of a surprise that his first interview since nearly losing his life in a car accident last year would be on “The Today Show.”

It was confirmed late Thursday by NBC that we will see Tracy and his attorney Benedict Morelli in studio on Monday to speak with Matt Lauer, which will be the first time in a long time that the actor has appeared onscreen, or as an interview subject, for that matter. During his lengthy recovery process Morgan has kept a very low profile, deciding against making a spectacle other than a few statements here and there from representatives.

In many ways, the aftermath to the accident on Tracy’s part started to come this week, when Walmart settled a lawsuit with Morgan, the family of the late James McNair (killed in the crash), Ardley Fuqua, and Jeffrey Millea all listed as plaintiffs. It was one of the company’s trucks that collided with a limousine carrying Tracy and the other passengers. The driver in Kevin Roper still faces criminal charges.

It is still to be seen what this interview is like, but we are obviously hoping for the best from Tracy. During the “SNL” 40th Anniversary Special Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin said that he wanted to be in attendance, but he was not full prepared yet to make an appearance. He still may face a long recovery, and it is to be seen if we ever see the same Tracy we once did again.
