ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8: Stana Katic signs new contract, return official
For all of those who have been wondering whether or not Stana Katic is going to be back for “Castle” season 8, worry no more: The actress has now signed a deal that will keep her on the show. This has been confirmed by multiple sources on Tuesday, with Deadline being one of the first.
While there are no specific terms out there for the new contract, it is possible that it may just be for a single season to cover what could be the eighth and potentially final year of the show. Nathan Fillion signed one last week, and while we have not heard much about the rest of the supporting cast, the original plan was to take care of them after the two leads of the show were officially signed. Getting Stana on board was imperative; not only is she essential to the series, but the finale did not provide an option for writing the character out that would make any sense.
One other benefit of this? It allows ABC to go into their upfront presentation this week without getting peppered with relentless questions as to her future. Still, let it be known here that they will probably address the longterm future of the show in some way before the event comes to a close.
Katic and Nathan Fillion both have won People’s Choice Awards for their roles on the show, and while “Castle” may not be a major ratings force anymore, it is still consistent and a series that the network can certainly rely on.
