‘iZombie’ season 2 official; The CW renews Rose McIver series
While this may have been news that you predicted coming from a mile away, isn’t it still nice to know that “iZombie” is coming back for another season? Today, The CW confirmed that the Rob Thomas series, which features Rose McIver as a crime-solving zombie of all things, has been officially renewed. It premiered this spring, and has drawn consistently solid numbers from start to finish. While we would not say it has reached “smash hit” status, it has performed better than any of the network’s shows that are currently airing on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
To us, the most impressive feat for “iZombie” was when it posted a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic on a week that did not feature a new episode of “The Flash.” We feel like for many, they have tried to downplay the show’s success by attributing it mostly to the fact that it airs after a hugely successful show. It has proven that it can stand somewhat on its own, and that is going to be super-important next season.
So where will The CW place the series? It’s possible that they hold it to midseason again, but we wouldn’t be shocked to see it moved to Mondays or Thursdays while either “Jane the Virgin” or “Reign” is shifted over to Fridays. You want to take advantage, after all, of some of your most successful shows. There’s also “The 100,” which you also have to factor in here somewhere.
As we approach the finale, we’ll have more “iZombie” news to share. Stay tuned!
