ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: What the writers won’t do to Castle, Beckett

While we are starting to get a slightly-better sense at the moment of what “Castle” may be planning for its future, there are still many things that we just do not know. For example, what will happen to Beckett in the event that Stana Katic leaves the show? Given that there are negotiations happening we don’t necessarily think that this is the plan; however, you have to be prepared for almost any situation and we are sure that the writers have thought of something that they would do to write her out of the series if it came to that and the show is renewed.

For now, what we would at least tell you is that there is not going to be a killing-off situation in the near future. As show creator Andrew W. Marlowe tells Entertainment Weekly,

“I think that we can say that if we were to come back next year, we would be coming back with all of our pieces intact … It’s not a Grey’s Anatomy situation by any means.”

There are some other issues to sort out here even note related to Katic’s status. For one, the show’s ratings declined over season 7, and you therefore have to consider whether or not you would have a shortened final season rather than the standard 22-24 episode order. We think that this could be an ideal situation, mostly because it would allow for the cast to do other things, and maybe give ABC a chance to try something else out in that timeslot.
