‘Longmire’ season 4 star Katee Sackhoff working on another new TV project
Katee Sackhoff is quickly proving herself to be one of the busiest women working right now. She’s doing independent film, attending conventions, putting a spin on “Power Rangers” for a fan film, and is also a series regular on “Longmire” in the role of Vic.
So what else is she adding to her plate? Think along the lines of a new potential TV project, which she wrote and is also executive producing. This show, entitled “Rain,” takes her back to some of her science fiction roots that she had in “Battlestar Galactica.” According to a report from Deadline, Sackhoff would star as Rain, a soldier in a future that is feeling the after-effects of global warming and also the burning out of fossil fuels. She is working with this through her own Fly Free Productions also Reunion Pictures, who are behind another sci-fi project in “Continuum.” In a statement, Tim Rowe of the company had the following to share:
“With Rain, Katee has created a future world and a story that are compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand … She has written a great story and we are excited to be working with her.”
This feels very much like a project that is still in its early stages, but we are intrigued to get to see some more information on it in the weeks and months ahead. Also, we feel like there should always be room for some more great science fiction programming on television.
Sackhoff is currently filming “Longmire,” which is certain far away from the sci-fi genre, in New Mexico.
