Ratings: ‘Chicago Fire’ scores with ‘Chicago Med’ pilot; ‘iZombie’ steady, ‘Agents of SHIELD’ down
We have written for weeks that one of the big tests for the “Chicago Med” backdoor pilot was going to be seeing what the viewership for it was during a new episode of “Chicago Fire,” and we now have an answer to that. For that most part, all parties involved seem to be fairly pleased with the episode’s success.
Overall, the episode posted a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is definitely solid. Granted, it did have the added benefit of coming on after an episode of “The Voice,” which did well in scoring a 2.7. It’s for that reason we wouldn’t be altogether stunned to see the show drop to a 1.9 in the final numbers. With these sort of numbers and generally positive reaction to the episode, we feel more confident now that this will be the medical drama NBC picks up for the new season.
Elsewhere, “iZombie” impressed us in keeping the entire 0.7 rating it had the week before, especially since there was no new episode of “The Flash” on before it. That is almost reason enough for The CW to give the show a quick renewal … almost. What we personally believe is going to happen next season is that one of the Monday-Thursday series (most likely “Reign”) will either be pushed to midseason or to Fridays to give it a more prominent spot in the schedule. This rating, if it holds, would ensure the show gets higher averages than “The Originals,” “Reign,” and “Jane the Virgin.” It would be right around the numbers for “The Vampire Diaries” these days, which is impressive.
Also, “Agents of SHIELD” rose to a 1.5 rating. Not a huge increase, but still nice.
