‘House of Cards’ renewed for season 4
Frank Underwood’s journey is officially far from over. Today, Netflix made the news official that “House of Cards,” one of their landmark properties, has been officially renewed for a fourth season. New episodes of the show will most likely start streaming in the late winter / early spring, otherwise known as the same time as every other year.
To us, the main news story here is probably the fact that Netflix for some reason waited this long to announce that we’d be seeing Kevin Spacey and company back. Remember, this is a show that really helped them to break out, along with the “Arrested Development” revival and more recently “Orange is the New Black.” It has been a continual awards contender, with Kevin Spacey recently taking home a Golden Globe for the part of Frank. It’s also helped to attract other great actors and content creators to the service, and they are clearly not afraid to make big moves for the sake of continue to push the creative. Just as (spoiler alert for those really far behind) Kate Mara.
With “House of Cards” still popular and with customers having such easy access to it, there is no reason to believe that this is going to be heading anywhere in the near future. Instead, we imagine that it will last as long as viewers want to see it last and the creators feel like there is still material. Our guess? You’ll probably see it until around season 5 or at the latest, season 6. The most important thing is that you know when to go.
