‘House of Lies’ season 5: On renewal possibilities for Don Cheadle – Kristen Bell comedy
Are you surprised that Showtime has not renewed “House of Lies” yet? We certainly are, given that this is the sort of show that tends to get picked up for new seasons early. For example, season 4 was ordered in February of 2014, well before the third season was even over. While the network has already renewed “Shameless,” they have not made a firm decision on the Don Cheadle – Kristen Bell office comedy … at least for now.
What is one main factor that they may be considering? It is something as simple as the ratings. Namely, we are speaking here about how they are not exactly as great as they were in season 3, so the network may be trying to figure out a way to boost those ratings before agreeing to renew the show. The series has lost a relatively decent share of viewers in general, but also it has lost viewers that fall into the dreaded demo in the past year; while that is somewhat common for shows past a certain point, this was never a hugely-rated show in the first place. Showtime has to make a big decision here, given the presence of marquee stars who could easily find another job somewhere else.
Personally, our hope would be for a shortened final season of around eight episodes or so to wrap up the Marty Kaan story. Have him find all of the success that he has been hoping for, but then also a little bit of humanity in the process. We like the show, but it may be time to drop the curtain.
The irony here as we write this is that it is very possible that Showtime will reveal the show’s fate tonight when it airs. They have done this before, and since they rely heavily on subscribers, they are not a network that will leave the fate of their shows ambiguous for very long.

The reason for low ratings is a dumbed down audience not the show, which explains why DWTS and The Voice are always in the top 10! HoL is a great show that I thought was actually better season 4 as they got back to more of the business side of things. I hope if they are going to get rid of it we get closure, it sucks when they just pull something off after this long and leave the viewers hanging.

If they dont bring back HOL they should at least do a movie. That way people will get the ending the series owes them.

It’s my favorite show! I have to say Jeanie’s being so… with child, staggered me at the get go of the season, I was really not feeling where that could be headed AT ALL. But the show did round into shape and finished strongly – though seemingly just a little rushed. I for one am very eager to see what can come next for Marty co. and Fam.

Then you should see Shameless because as much as I love HOL Shameless is the best of the two

Id be really bummed if Marty didnt get a final season. I dare say those big balls deserve something more than this ending of season 4. ~
