NBC’s ‘The Voice’ video: Watch Adam Levine, Blake Shelton reflect before premiere

Blake Shelton -Tonight, the moment of truth for fans of “The Voice” is finally here, at least in the form of the season premiere. This means more Blind Auditions, more coach banter, and just about everything else that you love about this show.

Our expectation for this season is actually pretty high, and for one simple reason: The last season of the NBC series was pretty darn fantastic. While we were not personally rooting for Craig Wayne Boyd to win, the entire final six or so had plenty of talent, and we actually feel like the show really put forth the effort to make them into more than just contestants. Their original singles, for example, was the most effort by far the show has put into making some of these artists into real stars after the fact.

The video below focuses not so much on the contestants, but on contestants Adam Levine and Blake Shelton commenting on a trend this year: The number of 17-year olds that are audition. They each shared some of their own experiences when they were this young, and we find them to be genuinely fascinating. For example, learning more about when Adam really started to get into performing is nice insight, while Blake’s commentary on Nashville then and now is interesting.

Ultimately, the big takeaway here is that these two guys were both working hard from an early age to make their dreams happen. They didn’t get to be stars based on chance.
