‘Suits’ season 4, episode 14 preview: What’s next for Jessica, Jeff Malone?

It feels like we’ve spent a good bit of time talking about either current couples on “Suits” season 4 (like Mike and Rachel) and couples who we want to see together (like Harvey and Donna). Have we given Jessica Pearson and Jeff Malone their due just yet? Probably not, given that they have one of the more fascinating relationships that we’ve see on the show.

For the entire run of the series, Gina Torres’ character has really mostly thought through one lens, and that is the good of herself and her firm. She has been about self-preservation, and sometimes, that meant making hard choices like keeping Mike around, or making Louis Litt name partner even when it had to be the hardest possible thing to do. It also meant lying to Jeff on many occasions, and she did so yet again recently in now exactly making it clear just what she was covering up that Louis discovered, which was in turn why he got the undue promotion. As a result of this, she had to start to seriously think about whether or not it was good for her relationship to have Jeff so close.

Tomorrow night, you can expect to see these questions be raised once again, and Jessica will be forced to handle the changing dynamic between the two of them. This relationship has always been fluid, given that she is the keeper of many secrets, and also that she holds such a position of power. Can something like this ever work? We want to think so, but sooner or later, Jessica’s foundation is going to start to crack even further. In the end, maybe she will be able to rebuild with Jeff and make it stronger … if he is willing.
