‘Girls’ season 4, episode 5 preview: The Gillian Jacobs storyline
Given that we are almost always a fan of a “Community” cast member showing up on any other show, we’re thrilled that Gillian Jacobs now has a role on “Girls” this season … even if she is viewed as an adversary to Hannah and her happiness.
You saw Jacbos’ Mimi-Rose Howard briefly during this past episode, as she learned that she was someone Adam had started to date following her departure from Iowa. Hannah never quite understood that she and Adam were of different minds when it came to her departure, and she has to contend with that now. Also, it does not seem like Mimi-Rose is someone who is completely a train wreck: She is successful and intelligent, at least judging from the brief clip featuring her at a university lecture. She is a very different character than who we’ve seen in this world so far.
Jacobs is also the second actor from “Community” to have a role on the show; Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino also previously had a part as a love interest from Hannah, who clashed with her often due to his Republican beliefs.
The only unfortunate part of this promo below is that there is not a whole lot beyond this Hannah / Adam storyline mentioned. Then again, this will probably be the episode’s main event, as we start to learn a little more about just how this all came about, why Adam felt the need to have someone else, and if it is possible for things to ever return to the way in which they once were.
