‘Fargo’: Colin Hanks lands comedy pilot as season 2 films
Colin Hanks may not be a part of “Fargo” anymore, but the good is that it looks like he may be finding another great role somewhere else.
Sources confirm to Deadline that the actor has been cast to play one of the lead roles in “Life in Pieces,” a comedy all about a family, with each member of it bringing a very different perspective into the mix. Hanks will play Greg, the youngest of a few siblings and a guy preparing for the birth of his child. Unfortunately, he is not even remotely ready for this to actually happen, which is where so much of the fun of this story is probably going to come from.
It pretty easy to live this casting on the surface, mostly because it is pretty easy to love what Hanks brings to the table as an actor. This is a guy who has shown time and time again that he can do almost everything; he was underrated in “Dexter,” and “Fargo” was finally the chance for him to get some of the recognition he deserves. Getting a chance to see more of what he brings to the table as a comic actor here will be fun to see.
Granted, this show still needs to be picked up first, and CBS needs some new hit comedies. “The McCarthys” is almost canceled, and “The Millers” was shown the door early during its second season, almost like they regretted picking it up again in the first place. This is going to need more than some great actors; it will also need a script that allows it to stand out.
