‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 trailer is already popular … but how popular?
There are few shows out there that tend to get the buzz of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Even though it is entering its fifth season, which is when some shows to have a tendency to decline, we don’t get the sense that it is necessarily happening here at all.
Ultimately, we like to think that we have some further evidence of this very thing right now courtesy of the show’s audience already for the season 5 trailer. According to some data that was made clear courtesy of Winter Is Coming, over 25 million views have come the way of the trailer within the first 72 hours, and that is only accounting for a few different sources, including Facebook, the official YouTube channel, and one that was taken from an IMAX theater screening. This doesn’t account for some of the other videos and postings that are out there, or the overall total of viewers who saw it during the theater screenings.
In the end, the only real takeaway from all of this is that we are going to see the show skyrocket in popular for some time, and HBO has a great structure set up for it. We feel like in doing ten-episode seasons, the network is not oversaturating its market. Also, with the advent of their upcoming a la carte HBO Go app, they are further spreading their wings to a whole new form of monetization.
The show will premiere come Sunday, April 12, and we know that there will probably some further video content when it comes to the show soon.
